Scholarship for lodging employees pursuing specific professional certifications, or distance learning courses, through the Educational Institute (EI). Applicant must either be employed themselves for a minimum of 20 hours per week at a AH&LF; member hotel or motel, and have a minimum of 12 months hotel experience, OR be a dependent of a qualifying employee (as previously stated) with the applicant having past employment in some capacity in the hospitality industry. Award is based on industry-related work experience, professional, community, and extracurricular activities, personal attributes including career goals, and responses to the required essay questions. Application for correspondence courses or certifications must be attached to the scholarship application. Due dates are the first of January, April, July, or October depending upon the quarter in which the courses are attended. Award covers the cost of the certification study guide, examination fee, and the certification fee. Number of awards may vary. Contact the EI of AH&LF; (2113 N.
