Critical Teacher Shortage Student Loan Forgiveness Program

Scholarship, for eligible Florida Teachers, which provide financial assistance for the repayment of undergraduate and graduate educational loans which led to certification in a critical shortage subject area. Applicant must apply during the first 12 months they are certified, and must have completed at least 90 days of teaching service in a Florida public school. Applicants who received a loan under the "Chappie" James Most Promising Teacher Scholarship Loan Program, the Critical Teacher Shortage Scholarship Loan, the Master's Fellowship Loan Program for Teachers, Florida Teacher Scholarshp and Forgivable Loan Program, or the Paul Douglas Teacher Scholarship Program are ineligible. Awards are on a first-come, first-served basis, with priority given to renewal applicants. Eligible teachers may receive up to a maximum of $10,000 toward repayment of the principal balance of their educational loans, at the rate of $2,500 per year for undergraduate loans and $5,000 per year for graduate loans. Number of awards vary annually, with an average of $750. Contact the Office of Student Financial Assistance for more information and/or application.
