Description
The Idea of America Essay Contest is open to current high school juniors or home school students between the ages of 16 and 18 who are either U.S. citizens or permanent residents. You must submit an essay on the following question: "Describe totalitarianism by comparing the goals, methods, and results of fascism and communism. How were the tenets of these totalitarian movements different from the ideals that unite Americans? How did the ideals embodied in the American founding prevail?" Relatives of National Endowment for the Humanities' employees are not eligible.
