The goal of The Pew Younger Scholars program is to nurture first-order Christian scholarship and to strengthen the Christian intellectual community by identifying the best students from eligible schools, helping them gain admission into the most highly-regarded graduate programs, supporting them financially and personally as they undertake their graduate education, and introducing them to senior Christian scholars through workshops and conferences. This is accomplished through a competitive awards program among students from targeted institutions. Each year of the program, ten students will be awarded a $39,000 fellowship, each consisting of three $13,000 per-year stipends, normally to be used for the first, second, and dissertation years of study. These awards are portable only to top-ranked Ph.D. graduate programs at outstanding universities.

Fields of study include the humanities, the social sciences, and the theological disciplines. Professional fields such as medicine, law, business, and the pastorate are not eligible. Performance and fine arts degrees are also ineligible. Receipt of the award is conditional upon acceptance into a graduate program approved by the Pew Younger Scholars Program and the provision of tuition and/or other financial support by the institution. Applications and more information available at the website.
