Eligibility: Open to high school seniors in Nebraska and western Iowa who are interested in attending college in the Ak-Sar-Ben region. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and rank in the top 50% of their graduating class. As part of the application process, students must submit a completed application form, a 300�word personal essay, 2 letters of reference, a transcript, and the original college funding estimator form and report from the EducationQuest Foundation. Selection is based on leadership potential, academic achievement, desire to earn a college degree, and financial need. Financial data: The stipend totals $10,000 ($2,500 per'year). Funds must be used for tuition, fees, books, room, and board (at university-owned housing only). Duration: 4 years, provided the recipient maintains a GPA of 3.0 or higher in college. Additional information: Since the sponsor's scholarship program was established in 1945, more than 13,000 scholarships have been awarded. Recipients must attend a 4-year college or university in Nebraska (any eligible school) or western Iowa (Briar Cliff University, Buena Vista University, Dordt College, Iowa State University, Morningside College, or Northwestern College). Number awarded: 20 each year. Deadline: February of each year. |
